Job Title: Assurance Manager

Location: Vancouver, BC (hybrid)

Salary: $110,000 to $150,000 depending on experience

Our Vancouver based CPA firm is seeking a Senior Associate aspiring to become an Assurance Manager or an experienced Assurance Manager to join their public practice firm. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership qualities, accounting, and auditing expertise (ASPE), and strong analytical skills. They should be familiar with various company operations and regulations. The candidate will be expected to lead a team, manage projects, and maintain relationships with clients while offering financial assurance. Responsibilities

  • Oversee audit engagements, including financial statement audits, internal audits, and risk assessments, ensuring they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Manage and oversee the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability, and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations.
  • Design and execute tests of controls, assess risks involving internal controls, and collaborate with teams to develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Review and analyze financial statements, reports, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring their compliance with financial laws and regulations.
  • Develop unique audit plans for each client, design audit procedures and timelines, and prepare and present audit proposals.
  • Assign responsibilities to junior staff and provide them with necessary guidance and training.
  • Lead and manage a team of auditors or assurance professionals, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Maintain client relations including explaining the findings of the audits, as well as discussing solutions to problems and future prevention strategies.
  • Report directly to partners and make recommendations for changes as required.
  • Stay updated with changes in financial, legal, and regulatory landscapes that affect the client's operations.
  • Assist in business development initiatives, including identifying opportunities for new assurance engagements.
  • Identify and assess risks that could affect the organization and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Upholding the ethical standards of the organization and ensuring independent and unbiased judgments are made during the audit.
  • Act as a liaison between the company, external auditors, and clients, ensuring that all parties are informed and aligned on the assurance processes.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the company's internal controls and reporting processes.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management to ensure accuracy and transparency in financial reporting.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, with a CPA designation.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in an audit-related role with an accounting public practice firm.
  • Strong knowledge of auditing principles and procedures, as well as risk assessment and compliance techniques.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and project management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and familiarity with accounting and financial software such as QuickBooks, CasWare, and Taxprep.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks or projects efficiently while maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a dynamic team.
