We are partnering with a growing organization that's looking to add an Accountant to their Finance team. This is a full-time/permanent position.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full-cycle accounting function for various entities, ensuring deadlines are prioritized and met
• Oversee the accounts receivable process, including recording sales, processing monthly resident billings, and following up on overdue payments
• Handle accounts payable and expense management, including reviewing vendor invoices, expense reports, and issuing payments
• Reconcile bank and credit card transactions with statements
• Manage payroll processing, union dues submissions, and pension/RRSP contributions
• Prepare government remittances such as HST/PST and payroll deductions, along with other required periodic returns
• Record journal entries including amortization, accruals, prepaids, and loan/lease schedules, supported by accurate documentation
• Produce monthly and annual financial statement packages along with cash flow analyses
• Prepare monthly working papers for assets, liabilities, revenue, and expenditure accounts
• Identify and resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
• Provide guidance to community-level staff on financial policies and software usage
• Offer recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff
  
  

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Experience with Yardi is required
• Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel)
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on accounting experience covering accounts payable, invoicing, collections, financial statement preparation, and payroll
• Proven ability to work independently with strong communication and organizational skills
• High ethical standards and a commitment to accuracy and detail
• Enthusiasm for improving organizational efficiency through accounting expertise
• A team player
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
