Position Purpose
We have an opening in the Metering Department for the position of Metering Representative. This position is responsible for providing accurate record keeping of metering data in the Meter Department. Metering and service information support is provided to customers, contractors, electricians and Alectra Guelph staff along with clerical support to the Operations Department. This position is covered under the Collective Agreement and reports to the Manager, Metering, but will also work with other Alectra Guelph departments, as required. Position Purpose
We have an opening in the Metering Department for the position of Metering Representative. This position is responsible for providing accurate record keeping of metering data in the Meter Department. Metering and service information support is provided to customers, contractors, electricians and Alectra Guelph staff along with clerical support to the Operations Department. This position is covered under the Collective Agreement and reports to the Manager, Metering, but will also work with other Alectra Guelph departments, as required. The successful candidate will have the following qualifications which are essential to this position:
Responsibilities
- Administrative support, including preparation of correspondence and reports for metering employees using office software.
- Creation and maintenance of spreadsheets and other metering record systems using both personal computer and enterprise software applications.
- Maintain data for all meters, current and potential transformers, including Measurement Canada Record of Installations, meter groups, meter relocations, status of power diversion investigations and related work, etc.
- Prepare, verify and enter meter reading data into the enterprise Customer Information System, including: meter installations, exchanges, removals and discontinued services, service changes, scrapped meters and new meter inventory, as well as update related information on metered service sizes and locations.
- Provide basic support for smart metering back-office meter system with respect to meter information, as required.
- Set up work orders to track costs and charge customers for damaged meters, meter testing, power diversion investigations, and related work.
- Liaison with and provide information to customers, builders, contractors, electricians, and various Alectra Guelph departments regarding scheduling appointments, work orders, meter installations, status, timing, inquiries, etc.
- Radio or cell phone communication to line and metering crews regarding dispatch of meter trouble calls, customer inquiries, meter issues, partial power calls, electrical inspection approvals and miscellaneous service calls to metering crew.
- Review with customers concerns of potentially defective meters due to high bills, coordinate appointments with Meter Tech’s to investigate these concerns and set up Measurement Canada meter disputes if required.
- Enter payroll timesheets and adjustments as required.
- Cover-off other positions, such as the Administrative Assistant - Operations, as required.
- Other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor.
Professional Qualifications and Experience:
- Secondary School graduation diploma with skills and knowledge in business and computer applications.
- Knowledge of utility functions such as metering, engineering, or operations, and experience in office administration including clerical work and records management.
- Basic familiarity with electricity revenue metering, including working with and interpreting customer electrical consumption data from metering installations.
- Experience and knowledge of enterprise Customer Information (Sungard SPS), Land Management, Work Order and Payroll applications in order to complete tasks required of this position.
- Experience and knowledge of AMI (e.g. SSN UIQ) application.
- Good knowledge of computer office applications (Word, Excel, etc.) with good typing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to liaise effectively with customers, builders, contractors, agencies and various Alectra Guelph departments, as well as prepare letters for external use.
- Demonstrated ability to work productively and accurately with attention to detail in data entry and document preparation.
- Self-motivated, capable of multi-tasking, able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines set by others.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, team work and respect in the workplace.
