The Shogun Teppanyaki Cook contributes to the overall success of the hotel by providing our guests with a pleasing & entertaining dining experience by preparing meals and other food items that are tastefully and artistically prepared. The position requires a person who has an outgoing, charismatic personality to entertain and present dinner in an exciting and original way.

Responsibilities

  • Teppanyaki style cooking and entertaining presentation
  • Ensures food preparation and service delivery standards are consistently achieved and maintained
  • Ensures quality, quantity and presentation of all food prepared meets the Coast Hotels standards
  • Ensures correct daily requisitioning, receiving, storage and rotation of “mise en place” are carried out
  • Prepares, cooks and presents food as outlined in the menu descriptions, build sheets, photos, and / or Server’s checks
  • Assists in the coordination of timing for food preparation and service Is committed to working safely, including adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene and cleanliness
  • Ensures the security and control of all food stocks used in the Kitchen to ensure minimum food wastage
  • Reports all defective equipment to the Executive Chef’s office for repair or replacement
  • Ensures all guests enjoy a Teppanyaki show at the end of each meal
  • Carries out other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef

Skills/Knowledge/Experience

  • Must have an outgoing, confident, charismatic personality
  • Previous experience Teppanyaki style cooking preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of sushi preparation preferred
  • Previous cooking experience required
  • Food Safe Level I, WHMIS are required
  • Hepatitis A vaccination recommended
  • Self-motivated team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills required
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking, multi-functional team environment required
  • Demonstrated superior customer service philosophy required
  • Superior communication skills in the English language essential
  • Exemplifies Coast’s core values and enjoys working in a culture of accountability
  • Able to work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings, weekends and holidays
