Position Overview

The Community Mobility Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating Prince Albert’s transportation systems to ensure the efficient, safe, accessible, and reliable transportation of its residents. The Community Mobility Coordinator will work collaboratively across municipal departments, with local businesses, government agencies, non-profit organizations, community groups, and residents to foster a safe, supportive, and healthy transport network.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Key Duties:
  • Transportation Planning and Scheduling:
  • Collaborate across departments to support the development of a Transportation Plan for

The City of Prince Albert, which considers a range of transportation options including an

active transport network, and recommendations to develop transport modes such as

taxi’s.

  • Develop and maintain schedules for the bus transit service to optimize routes and

minimize delays.

  • Analyze traffic patterns, ridership data, and customer feedback to make route

adjustments or improvements.

  • Coordinate with transit providers to ensure vehicles are available and operational.
  • Operational Oversight:
  • Monitor day-to-day operations of transport systems, ensuring safety, reliability, and

compliance with regulations.

  • Collaborate with the bus transit provider to resolve issues like delays, breakdowns, and

service disruptions.

  • Conduct regular performance evaluations of bus transit routes, making recommendations

for rates, fees, and efficiency improvements.

  • Undertake duties relating to taxi oversight including permits, checks, and management

of complaints.

  • Customer Service & Communication:
  • Address driver and passenger complaints and inquiries, working to resolve issues related

to community safety, service quality, or scheduling.

  • Disseminate information about service changes, delays, or disruptions through public

announcements or digital platforms.

  • Data Collection and Reporting:
  • Gather and analyze operational data such as ridership statistics, on-time performance,

and fuel consumption.

  • Prepare reports for Council detailing performance, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with asset management and GIS to monitor assets related to the bus transit

system, including benches, shelters and the transfer station(s).

  • Budget and Resource Management:
  • Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for transportation operations, ensuring that

funds are used efficiently.

  • Work with vendors and the City to procure and maintain transit vehicles and equipment.
  • Manage contracts with external service providers and advertising on behalf of the City.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Collaborate with across municipal departments, with local businesses, government

agencies, non-profit organizations, community groups, and residents to align community

transportation services with the broader transportation strategy.

  • Participate in public meetings to gather input from community members and explain

transport plans and schedules.

  • General Duties
  • Attend to inquiries through personal, telephone and written communication.
  • Follows Acts, regulations, bylaws, agreements, policies, orders and procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain records, reports and correspondence.
  • Follow acts, regulations and policies relating to Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, logistics, public administration, business

administration or a related field is preferred (or equivalent combination of education and

experience).

  • 2 years of experience in public transportation administration or a related field, preferably

in a coordination role.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and facilitate community engagement and

collaboration among diverse stakeholders.

  • Understanding of community planning, development and mobilization in context of socio

–economic factors.

  • Superior written and oral communication/presentation skills.
  • Strong organization, coordination and planning skills.
  • Ability to support effective multi-sector partnerships in the community.
  • Strong analytical, reporting and dissemination skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in

a dynamic environment.
