Overview

The Market and Liquidity Risk (MLR) team (within the Risk Quantification group) ensures that EDC's market, liquidity and counterparty risks are measured, reported, and understood in order to promote effective decision making. MLR helps assist EDC in navigating the increasingly volatile risk environment by providing information relating to risk management, developing best practices in Asset Liability Management and Treasury portfolio risk management, and reporting on securities and financial derivatives valuation, policy positions and more. The successful incumbent will assist in the design and delivery of best-in-class asset/liability management solutions, with the objective of making market risks transparent to key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides fair market valuation of EDC’s financial instruments (loans, treasury securities and derivatives). Validate the values generated by EDC’s derivative pricing models to an independent benchmark and recommend improvements.
  • Maintain, monitor, and update market risk models, ensuring compliance with EDC’s Model Risk Management policies. Collaborate on model validation activities, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Working knowledge of the impact of implementing new financial instruments and strategies with respect to risks, policies, procedures, technology, and processing.
  • Provides support for the quantification of market, liquidity and counterparty risk;
  • Measures, monitors and reports adherence to market, liquidity and counterparty risk policy and procedural limits;
  • Produces management reports related to interest rate and foreign exchange risks, economic capital, Value-at-Risk, duration, asset and liability gaps and more;
  • Assists in the management of a collateral program and assessment of counterparty credit risk;
  • Identifies opportunities for process/practice improvements within area of responsibility;
  • Documents market risk processes and procedures;
  • Ad hoc projects on market risk, pension plan risk and valuation.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Financial Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Statistics or in a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in risk management (Finance/Treasury) or equivalent
  • Understanding of interest rate and foreign exchange risk.
  • Quantitative and financial analysis abilities.
  • Knowledge of financial products, capital markets, and treasury financial instruments

Assets

  • MBA, FRM, CFA Charterholder or enrollment in the CFA program
  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Programming skills in data manipulation (SQL, Python, Power BI)

Salary Range

  • Actuarial Analysis 16: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $71,063-94, 752 plus a performance-based incentive
  • Actuarial Analysis 18: Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,355 - $123,140 plus a performance-based incentive

Location

  • Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
  • This role will be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa.
