Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is recruiting for a Senior New Ventures Analyst to join the team. This position reports to the Manager, Origination and Development in the New Ventures Unit. The New Ventures team is focused on developing opportunities for new energies and derivative products.

Hub development is a strategic initiative that aims to create local hubs for energy solutions, whereby Pembina would build underlying infrastructure (e.g. hydrogen, gas, power, water, rail, and other utilities) and Pembina would look to co-develop or invest in projects that utilize the hub. These hubs can offer multiple benefits, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy security, creating jobs, and stimulating innovation.

The Senior Analyst, New Ventures, is focused on customer development and potential tenants of the hubs. The incumbent will build and maintain long-term relationships with customers and has a deep understanding of customer needs and preferences. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will be tasked with developing and implementing customer-centric strategies to increase the adoption and satisfaction of the new energy solutions offered by the hubs.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Negotiate commercial proposals and contracts with customers and assist in the drafting and development of agreements with legal team.
  • Develop and maintain complex financial models to support the sourcing, negotiating and execution of business development opportunities (acquisition, brownfield and greenfield), and to support senior management decision making.
  • Develop and utilize financial models for commercial evaluations, including project cost economics, capital cost and pricing.
  • Perform analysis from both an operational and financial perspective to monitor project profitability and risk.
  • Research, develop and maintain economic, commodity and industry databases to support ongoing competitive analyses and benchmarking.
  • Assist in evaluating new project opportunities from a financial and strategic perspective.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for senior management.
  • Support New Ventures stakeholder activities, such as the preparation of external and internal presentations and project disclosure reporting.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Economics, Business Administration focused on Accounting or Finance, or another quantitative discipline.
  • Knowledge of the Energy Sector in general and midstream infrastructure industry in particular: Market structure, business strategy, regulations and policies, etc.
  • Outstanding financial modeling and economic evaluation skills.
  • Must be an advanced user of standard software programs: MS Office. Database and statistical program knowledge would be an asset.
  • Experience with decision and risk analysis tools is also an asset.
  • Proven track record in analytical work regarding research, presentations, economics and early-stage customer development.

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
