New Afton Mine

Situated 10 kilometers west of Kamloops, British Columbia, the New Afton Mine is an underground gold and copper producing site.

Kamloops is a city of 90,000 people, located 350 kilometers east of Vancouver. The area provides the opportunity to live and work in a vibrant community with its own university and within easy reach of world class ski resorts, championship golf courses, mountain biking trails, popular recreational lakes and award-winning vineyards.

About The Role

Schedule: 40 hours per week, flexible work schedule available

Position Reports To: Human Resources Superintendent

Position Overview

The HR Generalist works with a team that prioritizes integrity in managing confidential issues with tact and discretion. Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a professional relationship between site employees, site leadership and human resources by ensuring a sense of confidentiality, mutual trust, respect and teamwork
  • Provide guidance to employees and department leadership teams regarding Human Resources policies, procedures and legislation
  • Provide regular training to all levels of supervision across site on various HR related topics
  • Maintain HRIS systems and other records
  • Provide analytical support by generating reports and consolidating data for management presentations and/or reports (quarterly metrics, vacation reporting, etc.)
  • Assist with the planning, coordination and deployment of HR policies, guidelines and practices
  • Work with department leadership to establish recruitment requirements and manage and participate in the full cycle of the recruitment process
  • Support onboarding of new employees to the organization’s culture and processes
  • Support the strong team environment across the organization through collaboration, exceptional customer service and proactive problem-solving
  • Other activities as needed to support the HR Team and New Afton site

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a concentration in HR or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resource experience in a variety of HR functions
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required
  • A well developed communicator who is able to operate effectively and professionally within the organization
  • Highly ethical and able to deal with confidential issues with tact and discretion
  • An out-of-the-box problem solver, analytical thinker
  • Able to demonstrate organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and manage multiple tasks in an environment with competing demands and deadlines
  • Previous systems experience using SAP, SharePoint and SuccessFactors considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are working towards their Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation.

Other Requirements

Candidates will be required to participate in a comprehensive qualification process, including:

  • Completion of pre-placement functional screen
  • Provide proof of a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work in Canada
  • Provide confirmation of valid educational requirements

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this position will be between $75,000 to $85,000. A comprehensive benefits program and performance bonus plan will also be provided. This is not a camp operation and therefore the successful candidate will be required to relocate to the Kamloops area or travel and accommodation will be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
