Job Summary
This is a highly advanced and specialized professional, administrative, clinical leadership and supervisory psychology position with the Children and Women's Health Program. Reporting to the Regional Manager, Children and Women's Health Program, and maintaining accountability to the Professional Practice Consultant for Psychology for professional integrity issues, this single leadership psychology position provides direct and specialized psychological assessment and clinical diagnosis based on DSM-5-TR, the ADOS and the ADI-R. Treatment/therapeutic interventions will be provided to children and youth with autism and other developmental/intellectual disorders and their caregivers

This position provides direct specialized interventions and therapy based on a variety of best practice theoretical frameworks to clients where the application of best practice in complex situations is essential. Specialized clinical interventions and services are provided to this client population that is at risk for victimization, community exclusion, and placement breakdown. The psychologist promotes community inclusiveness and citizenship and acts as an advocate and professional psychology liaison within the program area, NLHS and community.

This is a senior position within the professional and specialty area and requires a high level of responsibility and autonomy with specialized expert knowledge within the subject area. The psychologist provides clinical direction and acts as a resource to a multidisciplinary team including Senior Behavioral Management Specialists and Child Management Specialists, Social Workers and other health care professionals including, Psychologists and Physicians across NLHS, community partners, clients, families and caregivers. Work involves the provision of leadership direction of research projects; policy development; emerging evidence based best practice for specialty area; development, delivery and evaluation of clinical interventions and standards of practice; design and delivery of education and training events including webinars and seminars; as well as supervision and training of provisionally registered psychologists and approved students/interns regarding clinical psychology practice, ethical conduct, and standards and guidelines of practice in psychology as per the Canadian Psychological Association Code of Ethics and Psychologists. This position manages, coordinates and maintains intake and waitlist responsibilities, Psychology Services and researches, monitors, and evaluates service provision as required in an area of clinical service delivery experiencing significant growth.

Uses fine finger/precision work when on the computer and visual concentration is required when in sessions with patients (i.e. reviewing patient charts/notes, tests and for documenting work, and when reading or researching information).
Visual concentration is required to interpret patient observations and integrate into patient evaluation.
Auditory concentration is constantly required in sessions with patients to listen attentively, to be alert and to obtain and interpret information correctly.
A higher than normal level of attentiveness is required when assessing high risk patients.

Job Qualifications
Graduation with an approved/recognized Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology is required.
Registration or provisional registration with Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required. Graduate course work and supervised experience in the assessment, diagnosis, functional analysis and treatment of children and their families with intellectual disabilities, autism, psychosocial delays, communication difficulties and mental health issues is required.
Previous experience supervising Doctoral level residents is preferred.
Exhibited strong communication, program development and evaluation skills.
Possessed strong leadership and supervisory skills that are focused on engaging others and developing coalitions.
Demonstrated ability to provide strong and comprehensive clinical support, training and mentorship to Clinical Psychologists II's and other supervisees.
Possessed strong analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of psychology practice to others.
Demonstrated ability to conduct research, deliver lectures/clinical education sessions and provide clinical direction and consultation within an interprofessional environment.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to participle in the clinical training activities of the psychology discipline.
Demonstrated strong awareness of ethical principles and standards of professional conduct.
The use of a personal vehicle is a condition of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.

*Current internal Clinical Psychologists who possess an approved/recognized Master Degree in Clinical Psychology will be considered for this position.
