The Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick is seeking a full time Senior Translator or Reviser to join the team within the Debates Translation Office in Fredericton. The mandate of Debates Translation is to translate House proceedings, speeches, and other related parliamentary documents in accordance with the highest professional standards.

The successful candidate will qualify at one of two levels, based on competencies and experience:

• The Senior Translator delivers high-quality translation of complex documents without revision, revises translated texts, advises beginning and intermediate translators, and performs various specialized tasks.
• The Senior Reviser focuses on revision and rereading of translations, advises beginning and intermediate translators, performs various high-level tasks, and replaces the Director during absences.

Essential Qualifications

• A university degree in translation or a related field.

Related fields include, but are not limited to, French language and literature, comparative literature taught in both official languages, and French language.

• Superior proficiency in spoken and written French and English.
• Ability to use office technology, software, and applications.
• Experience:
• Senior Translator: A minimum of five years of experience in English to French translation.
• Senior Reviser: A minimum of seven years of experience in English to French translation, including at least two years of experience in revision.

Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they possess the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.

Asset Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

• knowledge of parliamentary procedures and conventions;
• professional certification in English to French translation;
• experience using a translation memory such as Trados;
• experience in French to English translation.

Salary

• Senior Translator: $64,974 ¿ $90,740
• Senior Reviser: $75,478 ¿ $100,412
