GFL Ottawa is looking for a full-time permanent general labourer to support our liquids line of business.

Key Responsibilities:
- Receive all client waste – both bulk liquids/solids and containerized.
- Shredding Paint Cans, Containers of Adhesives, and other containers of non-hazardous solids or sludges
- Loading and Unloading box trucks and trailers (lifting 45 lbs above waste, and manipulating heavier drums onto skids)
- Cleaning and prepping emptied drums for reuse using a pressure washer
- Take samples from waste vehicles and containers for lab analysis.
- Operate plant machinery and assist with general maintenance.
- Assisting in waste treatment and waste water treatment methods and processes.
- Assist with preparing shipments of hazardous and non-hazardous waste for transport.
- Gain a full understanding and working knowledge of the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensure they are followed.
- Notify the Shift Supervisor/General Manager of any defects, damages, mistakes, errors, contamination, spills, other incidents or accidents that are identified.
- Comply with rules, procedures, safe work and hygiene practices, health and safety standards and use of personal protective equipment.
- May until mid-November: will be part of a 2-crew rotational shift working opposite of each other. Week A (Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday) and Week B (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday). The shift will be 8:15 AM - 8:45 PM.
- Mid-November until May: Overnight shift from Monday-Friday
- **Must be clean shaven** in order to wear a respirator mask
- Previous hazardous and non-hazardous waste management experience is an asset.
- Previous experience operating air diaphragm pumps and bulk liquid transfer systems is an asset.
- Propane forklift experience/certification is an asset.
- Must be safety conscious and detail oriented.
- Must be comfortable working in a mostly outdoor environment.
- Ability to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
