About The Role

We’re looking for a Business Development Account Manager to join our growing team!

As a Business Development Account Manager, you will be responsible for building strong relationships and growing the business of designated brokers in Group Insurance. You will work independently and collaboratively and play a key role in creating strategic business development plans. You will utilize your strong sales and communication skills to find new opportunities for growth and profitability. This is a permanent position requiring a variety of days in the Intact office, working from home and regular broker visits. This position is available in any of the Ontario Intact offices. 700 University Ave office is preferred.

What You'll Do Here

  • Develop and implement a business development plan to achieve growth objectives and build business broker relationships for Group Insurance
  • Ensure broker relationships are healthy and prospering, adapting your approach and strategy accordingly. Communicate organizational strategy, including product, appetite, new rating programs and pricing methodology etc.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Directors and Managers to execute national and regional objectives, such as growth, profitability, mix of business and retention and work with other internal stakeholders such as Underwriting
  • Understand the market and environment in which you operate. Monitor all company operations influencing business relationships with brokerages under your responsibility
  • Seek new business opportunities and present and sell Intact’s overall offering of the Group insurance products and services as well as advise brokerage firms on marketing solutions
  • Share network knowledge with the team and act as a business development mobilizer
  • Involved in various regional and provincial committees and projects and provide expertise to other areas of the company

What You Bring To The Table

  • The ideal candidate would have a dynamic personality with a minimum of 5 years proven track record of building strong broker relationships including: regular face to face broker visits, savvy negotiation skills, consistent networking and attending Insurance Industry events
  • A strategically minded person who can cultivate relationships with success sales growth results in speaking knowledgably about Group insurance including Home and Auto
  • Ability to influence business relationships to achieve business development and growth objectives
  • Strong communication skills in having open and honest conversations with the brokers, understanding their needs and providing solutions with Intact’s insurance products and services
  • Regular interactions with brokers and colleagues nationwide
  • Strong work ethic in partnership with the brokers to drive change with regular follow up and consistency
  • Business Development mindset to identifying new opportunities for profitable growth
  • Exemplary presentation skills and decision-making ability
  • Demonstrate a high level of autonomy, organization and proactivity
  • Highly independent, organized and proactive
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record as this role requires regular travel
