Secondary Contract Teacher - External Posting

Eligibility

Open to Continuing Education, Home Instruction, Secondary Occasional Teachers, and External Applicants

Please Note: If you are a Part-time contract teacher, do not apply to this posting. You must apply to the internal posting (identified in the job title as 'Internal Posting') in order to be considered with other contract teachers. The internal posting has a different job number. The successful candidate will be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers and possess the following:

Order of Consideration

Applications will be assessed according to the requirements and OCT qualifications outlined in this job posting, and in accordance with Policy P.146.HR Equitable Recruitment, Hiring and Promotion.

Consideration will be given to applicants in the following order:

  • OCDSB Continuing Education and Home Instruction Teachers

Where no Secondary Contract teacher is hired for a contract vacancy, the consideration moves to current OCDSB Continuing Education and Home Instruction teachers covered by the Teacher Bargaining Unit Collective Agreement.

  • OCDSB Secondary Occasional Teachers and other External Candidates

A minimum of 3 qualified applicants will be offered an interview; and,

If fewer than three (3) applicants apply, all qualified applicants will be interviewed.

Qualified external candidates will be screened based on the requirements identified in this posting and shortlisted applicants will be assessed via an interview process.

As a condition of employment with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, the successful external candidate will be required to submit a "Vulnerable Sector Screening" (criminal record check) prior to the commencement of any employment duties.

Occasional teachers should apply for any portion of a job posting for which they are qualified, as it is possible that a portion of a contract vacancy remains available after the consideration/hire of internal candidates.
