About The Role

Reporting to the Director, Everyday Financial Services (EFS) Finance, this Financial Analyst is a key team member who will provide financial and operational support to business partners within ATB. The position allows the team member to gain valuable experience for industry accounting and financial reporting and analysis. In addition to making an impact on the day-to-day financial operations of the business unit, your work will provide meaningful information to aid senior management’s key decisions for ATB Financial. Detail-oriented with a sharp mindset, along with being a team player, are key elements to being ALL IN and being part of a winning team.

Accountabilities

The role is primarily focussed on accounting and reporting activities related to Non-Interest Expenses (NIE) for Everyday Financial Services (EFS), and includes several cyclical deliverables as well as varying adhoc requests from several stakeholder groups and senior team members.

  • Analysis of financial results, with the ability to draw conclusions utilizing large data sets and data tools
  • Validation of data used to support financial statements
  • Completion of journal entries, financial reconciliations
  • Management, creation and enhancement of templates and reports used with a focus on increased automation leveraging centralized data sources
  • Support senior team members in forecasting and budgeting models
  • Creation of data visualizations and performing analytics of large sets of data for varying stakeholder needs
  • Communication of results in meaningful ways to fit varying stakeholder needs

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Highly-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to dissect problems, and suggest solutions
  • Detail oriented and strong time management & organizational skills
  • The ability to adapt to new situations and prioritize when needed
  • Relationship-building, communication and collaboration skills in both an in person and virtual environment - people LOVE working with you
  • The ability to be self-motivated and are able to initiate activities with minimal supervision
  • University Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • Strong skills in Google Sheets or Excel
  • Prior experience using large databases, query development an asset
  • Prior experience using visualization software an asset
  • Prior experience using SAP or other reporting program an asset
  • Working towards a professional designation, including CPA, MBA
