The Opportunity:
Global Raymac has an opportunity for a CAD Operator / Survey Office Tech to join our growing team in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will work with a team of land surveyors, survey technicians and other drafting staff to complete legal and topographic survey drawings for a variety of land development, construction and engineering and land claim projects throughout BC. Working under the supervision of a BC Land Surveyor and Senior technician, the applicant will be part of a large multidisciplinary team of surveyors and engineers.
The Tech will adhere to requirements outlined by the project team and client and ensure appropriate jurisdictional standards are followed to produce technically accurate drawings and plans, in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Responsibilities
- Prepare construction engineering survey plans
- Contribute to the cost effective and timely production of survey drawings and designs that include legal survey, topographic, bathymetry, engineering and construction layout plans.
- Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) to produce detailed and concise drawings with technical accuracy under supervision from the BCLS/Project Manager
- Process information from preliminary GPS and total station field data, field notes and sketches in order to create accurate drawings and plans
- Coordinate legal, engineering and architectural plans for field layout
- Obtain Certificates of Title, legal plans, and documents from the Land Title and Survey Authority and legal survey information from other sources
- Prepare legal survey plans in accordance with the ABCLS survey and plan rules
- Build relationships with clients and team members.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
Requirements
- Diploma in Geomatics and/or CAD from an accredited institution
- Prior related experience in a drafting role with 3-5+ years’ experience
- Preference will be given to candidates with local experience in the survey and geomatics industry.
- Experience working with legal, engineering and architectural plans
- Demonstrated understanding of basic survey principles and survey plan requirements.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Software is required; knowledge and experience with CAD/Mapping/GIS software is an asset
- Ability to multi-task, attention to detail, communication (written & verbal) and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and within a busy, high-performing, deadline‑oriented team
