STRABAG is actively seeking a Advisor, Communications for our Canadian division, where they can utilize their extensive knowledge to contribute to the continued success and growth of the organization. The Advisor, Communications will be responsible for developing, monitoring, supporting the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies that enhance the organization’s public profile, ensure consistent messaging.The successful candidate will be working at the Head Office located in Mississauga.

Job Summary

The Advisor, Communications is responsible for supporting the development and execution of internal and external communications strategies that enhance the organization’s public profile, ensure consistent messaging. This role will collaborate with various teams to create and deliver high-quality content across multiple channels, helping to manage digital communications, and the company website.

Duties

  • Assist in the development and implementation of communications strategies to promote the organization’s projects, programs, and initiatives.
  • Draft and edit content for newsletters, website updates, social media posts, presentations, and other communication materials.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the organization's website, ensuring all content is up-to-date, user-friendly, and optimized for search engines (SEO).
  • Research and implement SEO strategies to enhance the website’s search visibility and organic traffic, including keyword optimization, content improvement, and on-page SEO tactics.
  • Support the coordination of media relations activities, including responding to media inquiries and tracking media coverage.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and clear messaging in all external communications.
  • Contribute to internal communications efforts by developing content for employee newsletters, intranet updates, and other channels to foster engagement within the organization.
  • Monitor public sentiment and media coverage to identify potential issues, trends, or opportunities, and report on findings to the communications team.
  • Maintain and update communication databases, including media contact lists, stakeholder information, and event attendance records.
  • Assist with the creation and execution of digital communication campaigns, including content for social media, websites, and email newsletters.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives through metrics and analytics, providing reports to improve future campaigns.
  • Ensure all communications materials adhere to branding guidelines and organizational standards.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Exceptional proofreading abilities to ensure high-quality content delivery.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for various audiences.
  • Proficient in research methodologies to gather relevant data for informed decision-making.
  • Understanding of market trends to effectively position communications strategically.
  • Public speaking skills with confidence in presenting ideas clearly and engagingly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a University Degree in Communications, marketing, or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a similar role.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Familiarity with media relations practices and experience working with reporters or public-facing communications.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, including search engine optimization, social media platforms, content management systems, and email marketing tools.
  • Experience with event coordination and public outreach is an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and build relationships across departments.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences.
  • Experience with communications in public infrastructure or government projects is an advantage but not required.
