About The Role

We are looking for a Risk Control Consultant for our growing Transportation & Fleet team!

As a Risk Control Consultant – Transportation & Fleet, you will make a significant contribution by providing advice to underwriters, adjusters and brokers on risk management and risk control related to commercial auto and trucking insurance accounts. You will conduct site assessments and assess the risks associated with the business activities of current or potential customers in the automotive and trucking sectors. You will be counted on to identify the risks and conditions of all fleet categories with respect to improving their management and performance to prevent or mitigate losses.

Place of work: Teleworking and attached to the Mississauga office, to cover a territory to be defined in Ontario.

What You'll Do Here

  • Provide technical advice and consultation to underwriters, adjusters and brokers on risk management and loss prevention related to commercial automobile and trucking accounts.
  • Conduct investigations and evaluations of commercial auto and trucking insurance operations for existing and/or potential business.
  • Provide verbal and written recommendations based on technical expertise to help improve the account, as needed.
  • As a company representative, you will provide quality service and experience to policyholders and brokers as well as internal stakeholders such as underwriters, adjusters and managers.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of risk control and prevention training programs for brokers, underwriters and insureds.
  • Maintain knowledge expertise in commercial auto and trucking insurance operations.
  • Keep abreast of changes in provincial and state regulations and industry standards.

What You Bring To The Table

  • College degree or sufficient experience in the industry (trucking or insurance).
  • Excellent knowledge of CVOR, SAFER, USDOT, etc.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience and subject matter expert with the knowledge required to assess commercial vehicle and trucking accounts.
  • Knowledge of technology related to the trucking industry, such as telematics, electronic records (ELDs), dash cams and their use.
  • Experience working in claims, underwriting, risk control, or safety as it relates to commercial auto or trucking.
  • Be a good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Be motivated and able to be self motivated.
  • Take initiative and have the ability to solve problems.
  • Be customer and results oriented.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PPT).
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
