We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Property Management team. This position is for one permanent full time Plumber and is based in the city of Whitehorse, Yukon working 80 hours biweekly.

The Property Management Division of Highways & Public Works builds and maintains government buildings to ensure safe workplaces for YG employees and public access to services. As a plumber, you will perform a variety of plumbing and mechanical system maintenance tasks, including preventative maintenance to keep Yukon government facilities operational. You will report to the Trades Foreperson, Mechanical, and work in a dynamic environment with changing priorities. Strong communication skills, tact, and diplomacy are essential to providing quality service and resolving client issues effectively.

Essential Qualifications

Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Journeyman Plumber with interprovincial Red Seal certificate (copy to be provided upon request);
  • Experience in the plumbing trade, repairing, installing, and maintaining plumbing, heating, sprinkler, and HVAC systems in residential, commercial and/or institutional buildings.
  • Experience evaluating and planning small mechanical projects; including providing cost estimates; and
  • Applicants with current certification of ‘Gas B’ will be considered an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional Information

This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment and job requirements:

  • Valid Interprovincial Journeyman Plumber Certification;
  • Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s licence;
  • obtain and maintain RCMP vulnerable sector check (to be obtained prior to hire);
  • Transport Security Clearance/RAIC Pass (within 6 months of hire).
  • Travel, working in adverse weather conditions;
  • lifting to 22 kilograms;
  • use of personal protective equipment.
