Position Status: Permanent Full-Time

Description of the Position:

The Associate, Gift & Estate Planning is responsible for supporting the general administration and stewardship of the Estate portfolio for SickKids Foundation and The Hospital for Sick Children. The Associate reports directly to the Director, Gift & Estate Planning and works closely with the Manager, Estate Administration & Legal Services.

You will:

  • Work collaboratively with the Manager, Estate Administration & Legal Services to support them with the estate administration of Foundation and Hospital estates from the initial notification to completion, including extensive communication with trustees, lawyers, family members, fellow charitable organizations and other professional advisors;
  • Reviews and comments upon estate accounts, identifies, and assesses potential issues, and facilitates the stewardship and recognition of estates;
  • Ensures data integrity of estate information in the Foundation’s CRM system (KYDS) and makes timely updates to estate trackers to ensure all deadlines are met;
  • Helps maintain the department's electronic and physical filing systems;
  • Assists with administrative matters, including preparing and finalizing documents and outgoing correspondence, processing incoming and outgoing mail and courier items, photocopying, scanning, and preparation of reports;
  • Activity reporting, accurate and timely analysis of the financial position of the estates portfolio with an eye for maximizing estate revenue and identifying cost savings;
  • Conduct analytics for the Gift & Estate Planning program, as well as the estate portfolio, including the creation of queries and report generation;
  • Follows processes related to the gift planning program and estate donations;
  • Assists with new projects, as well as the ongoing clean-up up of historical estate records;
  • Keeps current on tax aspects of estates, trusts and other charitable gifts and informed about new legislation and rulings affecting the estate portfolio.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher, plus 1-3 years experience in estate administration preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience in analyzing and reporting on bulk data including revenue projections, benchmarking and donor statistics;
  • Experience with Blackbaud or other relational databases an asset, ensuring appropriate donor documentation;
  • Organized, detailed oriented, with strong follow through;
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills;
  • Decision making and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel);
  • A collaborative, team player.

Total Compensation Package:

Hiring Salary Range: $66,997 – $78,820; with the ability to progress to a maximum of $94,584. To ensure fair and equitable pay at SickKids Foundation, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the Associate, Gift & Estate Planning.
