Reporting to the Radiological Technologist Supervisor/Site Coordinator, the Radiological Technologist 1 performs diagnostic radiographic/fluoroscopic and medical imaging procedures/techniques and related duties, observing safe radiation protection practices.

Your duties will include

  • Receive and complete requisitions
  • Enter relevant data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Prepare patients for examination
  • Operate radiographic and computerized imaging equipment
  • Process radiographs and archive acquired data
  • Monitor patients during procedures
  • Monitor equipment performance
  • Maintain cleanliness of examination rooms


Education

Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated proficiency in safe work procedures with diagnostic radiographic and medical imaging equipment.
  • Proficient in conducting radiographic examinations in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Knowledgeable in evidence-based practice pertaining to designated modality.
  • Familiarity with organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe work practices with modality equipment.
  • Proficient in PACS/Radiology Information Systems, encompassing digital imaging, image archiving, and retrieval.
  • Proficient in CPR techniques.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including the effective use of a computerized client care information system.

Your Day to Day

  • Performs all general duty radiographic/fluoroscopic procedures consistent with established standards, procedures, radiation protection practices, and protocols. Works with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Performs requested examinations observing departmental standards, routines, and radiation protection practices during procedures by operating radiographic and computerized imaging equipment.
  • Ensures relevant clinical data is collected for the procedures requested by providing documentation of individualized patient care and recording history and clinical information. Maintains and updates records in the database accordingly.
  • Prepares contrast agents required for examinations by methods such as filling syringes and mixing barium solutions as required. Prepares tray set-up for procedures, disposes items after the procedure according to hospital policy, and cleans instruments for return to the Medical Device Reprocessing Department.
  • Monitors patient care and safety by ensuring procedures adhere to department standards and policies.
  • Provides input into quality improvement and risk management procedures and processes.
  • Cleans and tests equipment for the status of imaging, viewing, processing, and image recording; performs quality control tests and minor adjustments and/or arranges for necessary repairs; cleans technical area and maintains supplies.
  • Performs a variety of clerical duties including those related to patient demographics, histories, and data entry.
  • Participates in approved research and special projects in collaboration with supervisors and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participates in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement/LEAN programs by using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks such as patient/physician satisfaction or booking protocols.

The salary range for this position is CAD $32.84/Hr. - CAD $41.35/Hr.

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager or Resident Care Manager and working in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing nursing care to an assigned group of patients/residents according to established policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice for the Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia. The LPN functions as an independent practitioner, while recognizing situations such as increased patient acuity or care that falls outside the scope of an LPN as appropriate for accessing the RN/RPN for collaborative support and/or clinical intervention.

  • Assists patients/residents in meeting physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs

Education

  • Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant
  • Current basic cardiac life support certification

  • Program and Scope Holy Family Hospital Rehabilitation Unit (HFH Rehab) is one of the largest rehabilitation referral centres in BC. The unit has 65 inpatient beds dedicated to supporting the specialized rehabilitation needs of older adults following a life-altering event, such as a stroke, other neurological issues, orthopedic trauma, as well as major surgeries like hip replacements and leg amputations. In addition, more than 15,000 patients visit HFH Rehab each year to receive outpatient rehabilitation services for needs resulting from illness or injury


Your Day to Day

  • Provide safe and respectful nursing care, adhering to established policies, individualized care plans, and priorities
  • Conduct thorough assessments, monitor signs/symptoms, and communicate with the RN/RPN as needed
  • Prepare patients for procedures, transfers, and admissions, coordinating with the interdisciplinary team
  • Administer medications per protocol, monitor effects, and maintain communication with the team
  • Utilize evidence-based resources to stay updated on nursing practices
  • Respond to incidents such as codes, injuries, spills, and alarms, following procedures
  • Assist with staff orientation, demonstrating procedures and providing support
  • Address patient/resident and family learning needs, provide educational materials, and make referrals
  • Attend care planning meetings, provide input, and advocate for patients/residents
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and evaluate individualized care plans
  • Assist with discharge planning based on patient status and external supports
  • Operate and clean equipment, report malfunctions, and handle hazardous materials. Perform clerical duties such as answering phones, faxing, and maintaining records
