Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Operating Room, PACU and Day Surgery, the successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care in the operating room program and must meet the following criteria:

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Currently enrolled or completed Perioperative Nursing Certification
  • Current operating room experience preferred
  • Able to perform I.V. starts and venipuncture
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)
  • CPN(c) (preferred)

  • Self directed individual with the ability to work both independently and within an interprofessional team
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing
  • Creative problem solver with a customer focus and patient friendly approach
  • Proven critical thinking skills
  • Ability to multi task and set priorities in a rapidly changing environment
  • Well developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus
  • Demonstrated clinical competence in all surgical services provided
  • Ability to function independently as scrub nurse or circulating nurse for major orthopedic, urology, gynecology and general surgery procedures
  • Ability to establish work relationships with external partners
  • Excellent patient assessment skills
  • Reliable individual with excellent attendance record
  • Experience in patient teaching
