Position Summary

The Learning Solutions Coordinator reports to the Professional Development Officer and works as part of APEGA’s Career Development team to support the PD portfolio – specifically working with Regulatory on practice standards-related continuing professional development. This position supports current and future regulatory continuing professional development delivery as well as APEGA’s annual PD Conference, Nexus. This role acts as a liaison to Regulatory to determine upcoming CPD needs and supporting the regulatory PD delivery process. This role also specializes in e-Learning and generates online learning resources and opportunities for registrants through an LMS system.

One of the priorities for Career Development is to increase the quantity and quality of career and employment related resources for registrants and permit holders as outlined in Career Development’s 3-year plan. More specifically, this position will support the development and maintenance of online learning resources and the current PD program in response to APEGA’s and registrant needs.

Responsibilities of this position include establishing successful regulatory PD opportunities through online learning opportunities and more. This position will support the PD Officer in initiating, executing, and overseeing online learning programs related to the Regulatory division, while also supporting Career Development’s PD portfolio initiatives, as deemed suitable.


Responsibilities

Develop PD and LMS materials that support registrant learning needs related to Regulatory and the legislation and ensure existing PD is updated and reviewed regularly:

  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure the needs of regulatory PD are being captured
  • Identifying registrant learning needs and determining the best learning tools to deliver content based on the scope and need of APEGA and its registrants while considering feasible options
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain courses on the LMS based on APEGA’s needs and those of our registrants
  • Provide internal LMS support within the team and with other departments, this includes training, technical support and other related needs.


Administrate the Regulatory PD sessions so that the registrants may complete their mandatory requirements by:

  • Liaising with Regulatory to book the monthly dates sessions and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure PD learning is in line with APEGA regulations and standards.
  • Managing the logistics of PD sessions from start to finish
  • Upload new certificates to the LMS after each PD session


Research/Schedule professional development sessions to assist registrants in their professional learning by:

  • Sourcing PD presenters and evaluating presenter proposals and contacting and contracting potential speakers
  • Sourcing, vetting and promoting external PD opportunities, including Nexus, to registrants
  • Creating registration and web page event listings to each session
  • Coordinating with presenters and providing any support they require
  • Sourcing and developing online learning opportunities as feasible
  • Liaising with office services for internal room arrangements and catering needs
  • Compiling evaluation summaries
  • Suggesting possible speakers and topics
  • Managing Nexus conference logistics and day-of delivery tasks
  • Supporting internal regulatory departments’ conference sessions


Assist the Outreach & Product Services team to support the success and improvement of all portfolios:

  • Actively participate in researching, developing, and implementing Outreach & Product Services initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Outreach & Product Services team to identify opportunities for innovation, improving efficiencies, and recommending improvements to the Outreach & Product Services initiatives

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, commerce, education or a related field combined
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in education, adult learning, career development, etc.
  • Experience curriculum design, course development and/or technical writing is required.
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (e.g., CrowdWisdom, Moodle) to deliver online learning courses is required.
  • Experience in project management would be considered an asset.
  • Technical knowledge relating to engineering and/or geoscience would be considered an asset.
  • Equivalencies may be considered.
