As Business Unit Manager, you will be the leader driving strategic direction and holding full accountability for P&L performance for your business unit. The Business Unit Manager is a key leadership role at CMC Electronics for driving overall business leadership, driving business results and fostering our company’s culture. The Business Unit Manager orchestrates all activities relating to his/her business, leading a cross-functional team of Directors to drive growth and success of your business. You will be the business strategist, setting the overall direction for your business. Your role will involve forging and maintaining strong, close-knit relationships with customers and functional partners alike.

The Business Unit Manager role is the key development role for executive positions at CMC, we therefore seek a highly motivated individual with a desire for rapid career growth.

As a Business Unit Manager, Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Include

  • Strategy: Design and implement a vision, a strategy and associated tactics to drive operational excellence and exceed financial performance targets.

  • Execution Leadership: Manage and grow our business portfolio, working closely with program teams to meet requirements while achieving financial goals. Provide top-tier leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless execution of major programs.
  • Maximize Performance: Apply CMC Electronics’ proven value creation model by focusing on profitable new business, value-based pricing and productivity.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Partner with senior leadership to tackle complex business challenges and enhance overall organizational performance.
  • Culture Carrier: Drive high standards for individual, team, and organizational achievement by applying CMC’s value creation model, having a strong bias for action, and using data to drive decision making. Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and open and honest communication.
  • Operational Alignment: Translate strategic priorities into operational success by aligning communication, resources, processes, and key performance indicators.
  • Communication: Deliver compelling presentations on quarterly financial results, business cases, and customer engagements.
  • Engagement: Travel up to 20% to engage with customers, attend tradeshows, and participate in corporate events and activities.

To Join Our Team, You Must Hold

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry, with at least 5 years of close collaboration with business development and sales, program management, engineering, and operations teams.
  • Highly competitive individual with strong leadership skills, results-oriented attitude and a proven ability to think and act like a business owner.
  • Focused on financial performance and achieving profitable bottom-line results. A proven track record of meeting or exceeding goals.
  • Proven ability to anticipate market trends, identify future opportunities, and align business strategies for success.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills that captivate and inspire.
  • Strong business and financial acumen to drive profitability and growth.
  • Superior negotiation skills with the ability to develop mutually beneficial agreements, ensuring favorable terms and compliance with company policies
  • Experience leading in a functional matrix organization.
  • Data-driven with an analytical approach to decision making,
  • Demonstrated success in managing and enhancing customer relations, with a focus on growth, satisfaction and retention.
  • Adaptable and effective in driving positive change within an organization.
  • Proven ability to implement initiatives that enhance employee engagement and satisfaction, leading to high retention rates.
  • Expertise in Program Management, Capture Management and/or Proposal Management will be considered as assets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering. MBA will be considered an asset
  • Eligible for Canadian and NATO Secret clearance.
