A Day in the Life:

PRT is currently recruiting a flexible part-time Cold Storage Specialist to work at PRT Big River Cold Storage in Big River, SK. The Cold Storage Specialist is responsible for the organization of stock and for moving stock in and out of cold storage.  Candidates should have a desire to learn about forest seedling cold storage and shipping, work independently and efficiently. The position is most active from October to December (receiving shipments) and from May to June (thawing and shipping to field planters) and may be combined with cold storage monitoring duties through the active cold storage months (October to June).

Key accountabilities of the Cold Storage Specialist are:

  • Shipping and receiving
  • Keep neat, detailed, and accurate records including computerized record keeping systems and data entry.
  • Monitor stock quality and inventory
  • Thawing stock prior to shipping
  • Communicating and building relationships with customers and PRT Customer Support Representatives

About the team:

The Cold Storage Specialist will work alongside Nursery Workers and will report directly to the Prince Albert Nursery Manager.

Required/Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid Driver’s License and a valid certification for operating power mobile equipment. (i.e., Forklift) *if not currently certified, must have the ability to acquire certification upon hiring.
  • Level A First Aid certificate
  • Appropriate work attire
  • Great organizational, record keeping and attention to details skills
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to stay calm and think under pressure
  • Professional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Team-oriented personality with a positive attitude
  • Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45lbs.
  • Commitment to quality and safety
