Affirm is looking for a thoughtful, collaborative, and skilled privacy lawyer to join as Senior Counsel, Privacy, with primary responsibility for privacy legal matters in North America (U.S. and Canada). Reporting to the Director, IP and Privacy, you will be supporting a global privacy program and in a position to drive impact quickly. What You'll Do

  • Provide pragmatic advice and guidance on privacy and security matters in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Maintain and elevate Affirm's privacy policies, playbooks and processes to enable Affirm to continue scaling globally.
  • Work with teams across Affirm to help drive a global data protection program and governance structure consistent with relevant laws and regulations
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that privacy is built into the design of new products, features, and business initiatives.
  • Partner with the commercial and vendor legal teams to ensure appropriate data protection provisions are incorporated into vendor, partner, and merchant agreements.

What We Look For

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and in good standing to practice law in a US state bar
  • 5+ years of relevant law firm experience, with a preference for additional in-house experience (particularly if it’s from a high-growth fintech)
  • Laser-focus on client-service excellence by being highly proactive, responsive, adaptable, and team-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to develop solutions to complex legal matters without losing sight of business objectives
  • Outstanding organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritize deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Natural self-starter, with the ability to work efficiently (both solo and as part of a team)
  • Humility, integrity, and a desire to be part of a strong, encouraging team

Pay Grade - O

Equity Grade - 5

Employees new to Affirm typically come in at the start of the pay range. Affirm focuses on providing a simple and transparent pay structure which is based on a variety of factors, including location, experience and job-related skills.

Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and benefits (including 100% subsidized medical coverage, dental and vision for you and your dependents.)

CAN base pay range per year: $162,000 - $212,000

Affirm is proud to be a remote-first company! The majority of our roles are remote and you can work almost anywhere within the country of employment. Affirmers in proximal roles have the flexibility to work remotely, but will occasionally be required to work out of their assigned Affirm office. A limited number of roles remain office-based due to the nature of their job responsibilities.
