Overview:

As an Apprentice Welder, you will assist in the repair and maintenance of equipment such as cone crushers, conveyors, loaders, excavators, washing equipment, and cyclones. This is a fast-paced production environment, so having a mechanical aptitude is essential. You'll be guided by experienced welders while gaining hands-on experience in fabricating and welding.

Responsibilities:

As an Apprentice Welder, you will:

  • Assist in performing welding repairs and maintenance on production-related equipment and structures.
  • Learn to utilize various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding, to join metal components according to specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols to understand project requirements.
  • Conduct visual inspections of completed welds to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Help prepare workpieces by cleaning, cutting, and shaping metal using various tools and equipment.
  • Ensure proper fit-up and alignment of components before welding.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to ensure all tasks are completed safely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Interest in welding and a desire to learn in an industrial environment.
  • Valid driver’s license is preferred.
  • Apprentice welder certification


Skill Set:

  • Basic understanding of fabrication and design concepts.
  • Familiarity with air arc equipment and gas cutting is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineered blueprints.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • CWB or other welding certifications are a plus.


Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work under pressure and adapt to changing situations.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and tolerate exposure to loud noises.
  • Physically fit to perform required duties
  • Availability for overtime and weekends when necessary.
