Cloud System Administrator

We are seeking a dedicated Cloud Systems Administrator to be a key player in our dynamic Computer Operations team based in our South Edmonton Corporate Head Office!

Reporting to the Manager of Computer and Network Operations, this role will be responsible for the stable operation, availability, reliability, and performance of the Windows Server Environments according to the standards and procedures held by the Computer Operations and IT teams.

This is a temporary position with an expected duration of 1 Year.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup & Configuration Install, configure server hardware/software, and set up VMware networking.
• Maintenance & Updates Perform regular updates, patches, and monitor server performance.
• Security Implement firewalls, antivirus, and intrusion detection as directed by the security team.
• User Management Manage Active Directory accounts, permissions, and ensure policy compliance.
• Troubleshooting & Documentation Diagnose, document, and resolve hardware/software issues, provide technical support.
• Cloud Management Set up, configure, and manage cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc.).
• Monitoring & Optimization Monitor performance, optimize resources for cost-efficiency.
• Automation Automate tasks using scripting (PowerShell, Python) and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Backup/Recovery & Support Manage cloud backup strategies and disaster recovery plans and provide technical support by troubleshooting cloud infrastructure issues.
  
  
  

What does it take to get on track?

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in enterprise on-premises and cloud server environments.
• The successful candidate will possess an expert working knowledge of Windows Active Directory, DNS and Windows Server and Workstation operating systems.
• Proven troubleshooting and critical thinking skills are required
• Experience with VMware, and Terminal Services would be an asset.
• Experience with ITIL would be an asset.
  
  
  

Education & Experience

• Post secondary education in computer science (CET or equivalences + experience)
• Microsoft Role-Based Certifications with an emphasis on Azure Administration and experience considered.
