The Opportunity

Four-month work term: January - August 2025

How You Will Contribute

You will be part of an industry-leading multi-disciplinary organization that develops high-baud rate modems for next-generation optical communication networks. The specific team to which you will report specializes in the design of custom high-speed analog/radio-frequency integrated circuits in nano-scale CMOS technology.

• The position will utilize all your acquired skills in electronics, mathematics, semiconductor physics, and computer programming and will lean heavily on your capacity to independently solve challenging engineering design problems.
• You will be a member of an advanced high-speed analog mixed-signal design team working on novel circuit designs for Ciena’s most advanced optical transceivers.
• During your term, you will be immersed in an industrial R&D-style environment and mentored by industry experts in the very latest tools, semiconductor technologies and circuit design techniques.
• We are looking to groom a highly-motivated engineering candidate who is passionate about problem solving, plans a career in advanced high-speed analog/radio-frequency circuit design, and loves working with others.

The Must Haves

• Nearing completion of a bachelor’s degree in electrical/computing engineering, applied mathematics or engineering physics
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of modern electronics, EM theory, numerical methods, digital signal processing, semiconductor physics, and computer programming
• Previous exposure to computer aided design tools such as ADS, Cadence Virtuoso, and/or HFSS
• Demonstrated proficiency with Python, Matlab, C++ and graphical user interface design

• Confident working in both Windows and Linux environments
  
  

Compensation And Benefits (Students)

The pay range for this position is $24.50-$33.00/hour

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
