Role Description

Stockhouse is looking for a vigorous Finance and Business Editor with hands-on writing experience to join our content team. This role will actively be curating financial content, reviewing articles and reports, liaising with the client service team around sponsored content needs, spearheading trending topic direction among the team and when needed, be writing analytical business articles. The ideal candidate is a mid-level editor and writer, who can coordinate all aspects of a project, fact check, quality control, insist on consistency, and have an eye for effective titling.

Primary Accountabilities

• Edit documents with a keen eye for errors, ensuring alignment between press releases and editorial content, and understanding the proper context.
• Write and coach the team on effective titling using our SEO guidelines.
• Review statistics to develop an effective content strategy for our investor audience.
• Create targeted, compelling, and high-quality content.
• Detect and maintain a cohesive narrative and tone throughout the work.
• Identify topics that are important to various investor audiences and finding original ways of creating content that provides value.
• Ensure that sponsored content from the Client Services department is delivered on deadline and with agreed upon outlines met.
• Coordinate with Client Service manager on sponsored content products and strategies.
• Researching and collecting information from multiple sources to the point where you become a subject matter expert.
• Working closely and effectively with other departments to communicate ideas, thoughts and strategies regarding content.
• Assisting in new product launches from concept through to finalization.

Qualifications and requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Business & Finance, English or related field
• 3+ years of experience writing and editing creative content (WordPress)
• Previous experience managing a team’s content strategy
• Strong research skills with the ability to develop compelling news stories and articles
• Exceptional writing skills and is capable of writing creative, clean and polished content
• Excellent oral communication skills and works well in a team environment
• Strong organizational skills and time management skills; ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
• Skilled in managing tight deadlines and scheduling to produce editorial calendars
• Passion for the stock market and investing is an asset
