About The Role

As ATB’s next Managing Director, Risk & Compliance, you will be responsible for continuous risk monitoring and oversight within the Client Experience and Technology (CXT) area at ATB. This role is a trusted advisor who can effectively challenge the business and influence organizational priorities to balance risk considerations.

This role will lead the team responsible for identification, assessment, management and monitoring of risk within the technology and banking products/processes.

Accountabilities

  • Design risk-based monitoring programs to support enterprise risk management
  • Operating within risk tolerance limits, rules, laws, regulations and policies
  • Understand the online threat environment including tracking of new threats, vulnerabilities and issues
  • Monitor regulatory and reputational components inclusive of new or pending regulations such as Open Banking
  • Develop ongoing risk reporting, monitoring key trends and defining metrics
  • Influence behavior to reduce risk and foster a strong risk management culture
  • Provides leadership and oversee a team responsible for the design of processes / programs for mitigation of technology and banking products/processes risk
  • Adhere to, advise, oversee, monitor and enforce enterprise frameworks and methodologies that relate to risk management activities such as information security, IT operations, physical security, third party risk management etc.
  • Assess risks related to the introduction of new technologies and banking products
  • Align controls across different frameworks such as the Payment Card Industry, Digital Security Standard
  • Developing and documenting a comprehensive risk and control matrix
  • Ensure the remediation of control issues based on the results of assessments
  • Track gaps and deficiencies in controls and monitor remediation plans
  • Trusted partner to executive stakeholders in establishing parameters for risk, security and disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Report risk levels and key actions to mitigate risk to senior leadership and the Risk Committee of the Boa
  • Raise awareness and areas of concern to technology executives to drive action plans
  • Work closely with technical delivery teams to implement risk mitigating solutions

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Degree or diploma from a recognized post secondary institution in a technology, business administration or other quantitative discipline
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in managing risks in a medium or large enterprise; experience in a financial service industry will be considered an asset
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role overseeing direct reports.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk management, internal audit, risk and control assessments, risk evaluation from inherent to residual risk
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated capacity for problem solving, synthesis, a and decisions
  • Proven ability to create reporting and communications for senior management and board level audience technology into simple business terms.
  • Proven ability to lead and grow teams
  • Ability to negotiate, influence, collaborate and build strong working relationships with partners and stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver technical issues to both tech clear and understandable manner
