As the Business Intelligence Analyst in the Learning and Recruit Division (LRD), you will be responsible for the collection, collation, summarization, and preliminary analysis of use of force, training data, and feedback. You will ensure that insights derived from this data drive training programs and awareness initiatives across all levels of the Calgary Police Service (CPS). Specific duties include:

  • Collaborate with other members of the LRD to enhance training effectiveness, inform policy development, and support continuous improvement in police performance which connects with operational policing.
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret large volumes of raw data from various sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Provide tactical and behavioural analysis of information collected as it relates to recruit and in-service training.
  • Perform statistical analyses, produce reports, and provide written and verbal interpretations of data.
  • Stay well-informed with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business intelligence and data analytics.
  • Identify opportunities, deficiencies, or gaps in data models within the organization and provide training opportunities and improve operational performance.
  • Convert and transform the data within operational data and store into consumable formats for dashboards and reports consumption.
  • Create standard operating procedures for new functions within the service.



Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Business, Applied Science, Mathematics or in a related field and 3 years of related experience such Data Analysis, Statistical Analysis or Strategic Business Planning; OR
  • A diploma in Computer Science, Business, Applied Science, Mathematics or in a related field and 5 years of related experience such Data Analysis, Statistical Analysis or Strategic Business Planning.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who have an intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and have experience creating dashboard using Microsoft PowerBI.
  • The successful applicant will be competent in the following areas: analytical thinking, change management, coaching and development, communication, efficiency and thoroughness, focus on results, and relationship building.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $43.35 - 57.96 per hour

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day

work week with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
