Senior Project Manager

Alberta Health Services

Date: 3 weeks ago
City: Red Deer, AB
Contract type: Full time
Your Opportunity:

The Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre (RDRHC) Redevelopment and Expansion, with a budget of $1.8 billion, is a fast-paced Major Capital Project (MCP) involving the concurrent design and construction of a new tower within the existing hospital site, alongside the development of a new P3 Ambulatory Care Building (ACB) situated in close proximity to the hospital. Upon completion of the new tower, extensive renovations will occur to the existing hospital. The overall project, which exceeds the complexity and scale of a typical healthcare MCP, is expected to be completed over the next 8 – 10 years. The project’s primary goal is to enhance and increase healthcare services for the citizens of central Alberta. The Senior Project Manager, reporting directly to the Logistics Program Lead, plays an integral leadership role within the Project Management Office (PMO). The position involves overseeing complex logistics operations, supporting critical construction activities in a fully operating facility, and managing day-to-day logistics for site mobilization. This role requires close collaboration with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including Alberta Infrastructure (AI), AHS departments, contractors, and clinical teams. Supporting the Logistics Program Lead, the Senior Project Manager will assist in the development of dashboards for AHS Executive and Zone leaders, tracking requests, decisions, and deficiencies to facilitate issue resolution and strategy development for meeting a compressed schedule.

Description:

The successful candidate will support projects led by AI throughout their lifecycle, primarily focusing on projects related to the decanting of departments impacted by the construction of the new tower, the ACB development, and other peripheral projects that may arise as a result of the RDRHC Redevelopment MCP. In addition to providing support to the Logistics Planners, the Senior Project Manager will ensure that all logistics operations are carried out in alignment with project timelines and objectives. This role will also be responsible for managing and optimizing workflows to ensure smooth transitions during relocations in clinical and administrative areas, with a strong emphasis on operational continuity and patient care. The Senior Project Manager will develop logistics tools such as tracking systems and matrices to ensure that all tasks are managed efficiently and nothing is missed throughout the project’s execution in conjunction with the Program Lead. The candidate will also monitor progress, manage risk assessments, and ensure that quality assurance protocols are maintained throughout the project. This position demands a strategic thinker with a strong ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously. The Senior Project Manager must be adept at anticipating project needs, leading key stakeholders, and facilitating the smooth integration of logistics into the broader redevelopment effort. With the ability to balance long-term planning with immediate task execution, the successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the success of logistics operations within the RDRHC Redevelopment.
