We are currently looking for a Senior Electrical Designer to support the Sustainable Mine Development group at the Mining and Metallurgy division of AtkinsRéalis. This position is to report to the Electrical Engineer Director or to the project Electrical Lead Engineer. The Senior Electrical Designer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of Electrical professional team including Engineers and Designers and will be involved in a small- and large-scale projects across the country and internationally. The work will include Mineral and Mining process plants in North America and internationally.

This opportunity will be to support the M&M business located in Toronto.

Your Role Within The Team

  • As a Sr. Designer to be able to work independently with minimum supervision. Assist design engineer to develop electrical engineering deliverables including 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Assist Design Engineer to prepare electrical material requisitions and performance specifications.
  • Assist in developing E-Room Layout, underground and above ground cable routing, schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Assist Design Engineers in the preparation of Power Single Line Diagram, Relay and Metering One-line diagram and Communication architectural block diagram.
  • Prepare Bills of Materials and Cable Schedules.
  • Work closely with peers and other discipline designers to ensure accurate delivery that will meet utility Standards, industry standards and meet good engineering practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain good working relationship with internal groups that support the project.

The Ideal Candidate

  • An associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or as an electrical technologist from a recognized institution.
  • 10+ years of experience as an Electrical Designer, specifically in process plant environments.
  • Strong knowledge of North American codes and standards, including IEEE and ANSI.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, Autodesk 3D, and SmartPlant 3D.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
