As a key member of MLSE Food & Beverage Team at Hot Stove, the Host will play a vital role in ensuring our guests feel welcome and valued from the moment they arrive. This role involves managing reservations, seating guests, and maintaining the flow of the dining area to deliver an exceptional guest experience. The Host will also assist with operational tasks to support overall service excellence and smooth restaurant operations.

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, creating a professional and friendly first impression.
  • Ensure menus, wine lists, and other guest materials are clean, tidy, and ready for service before each shift.
  • Manage and take accurate in-person reservations through Sevenrooms, our reservation system.
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager to prepare and organize seating plans based on guest preferences and availability.
  • Seat guests efficiently and according to the seating plan, maximizing the dining room’s capacity while balancing service flow.
  • Communicate special requests, dietary preferences, or specific seating needs to ensure seamless coordination and guest satisfaction.
  • Oversee guest waitlists, providing accurate wait time estimates and keeping guests informed.
  • Assist with table resetting, preparation, and other duties as required to support service continuity during peak times.
  • Provide support to Bussers, Servers, Bartenders, and Managers as needed to ensure smooth operations.
  • Handle guest feedback or concerns courteously and escalate issues to the Manager when necessary.
  • Follow service standards and policies, ensuring a high-quality guest experience at all times.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act, to maintain a safe and clean working environment.

  • Smart Serve Certification is required.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant or club environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency with reservation systems like SevenRooms or similar platforms is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Able to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
