About the Role

The Fundraising Director’s role is to responsibly steward and grow Mountain Mentors’ revenue streams to support sustainable programming related to the organization’s core mission. 


Role Responsibilities

  • Accountable for raising 50% of Mountain Mentors’ (MM) annual revenue through grants, partnerships, supporting community led fundraisers and other initiatives to ensure MM’s sustained operational health through diverse streams.
  • Manage relationships with community partners, funders and corporate sponsors to ensure sustained support for MM programming, typically this has been $10,000-$20,000 a year annually in prior grants plus Gift in Kind Donations used for programming. 
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager & Director, other Mountain Mentors Directors, and volunteers to organize and promote fundraising events and campaigns that are responsive to mentorship cohort and broader community needs. 
  • Partner with the Alumni Director to build resources that empower the cohort, alumni and community supporters to host multiple small scale fundraising events each year.
  • Explore and pursue other fund-generating opportunities based on personal and organizational capacity to diversify Mountain Mentors funding sources. 
  • Ensure timely updating of MM’s customer relationship management software (CRM).
  • Steward MM financial resources through prudent financial spending, in accordance with budgets and revenue targets.
  • Provide support for alumni & cohort events and fundraising initiatives contributing as capacity allows.

  • Connected to the outdoor community in the Greater Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler, and Pemberton on the ancestral and unceded lands of kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem), Qayqayt, Kwantlen, Semiahmoo, Tsawwassen, xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), S’ólh Téméxw (Stó:lō), St̓át̓imc Tmicw (St’at’imc), and Líl̓wat (Lil'wat) Peoples.T
  • Committed to advancing gender equality in the outdoors community through an intersectional framework in line with Mountain Mentors’ Program Commitments and Core Behaviours including equity, development, partnership, community, accountability, safety. 
  • Creative community-builder who is comfortable sharing the mission of mountain mentors with partners, community members and potential sponsors through verbal and written communication. 
  • Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with an ability to work unsupervised, problem-solve on the fly, and manage your own schedule in sync with a fluctuating workload while meeting seasonal deadlines.


Time Commitment & Expectations

  • Eight to fifteen hours of service per month (fluctuates based on event and grant schedule with ability to plan for addition support in peak periods/when required)
  • Attend monthly Board of Director meetings (via video-conference) and annual in-person AGM (to be held in Vancouver, Squamish, or Whistler) in March.
  • Successful candidates will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement and a director qualification agreement (Section 44, BC Societies Act).
  • Complete a full term (2 years) in this position.
