The Enterprise Business Investment (EBI) team’s objective is to facilitate and provide (i) investment prioritization, (ii) business case review, (iii) project governance, and (iv) portfolio management, reporting and analysis for the Bank’s strategic investments. The team is a critical function which ensures the Bank’s resources are used effectively to meet financial targets, and that aligns with the Bank’s strategic priorities.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Review new business cases seeking funds & author critical analysis and commentary of Business Cases, evaluate and approve Project Change Requests, ensuring all activities are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and that procedures align with authorized funding plans.
- Act as Finance relationship manager (Finance gatekeeper) for business cases; leading socialization processes and meetings for critical business cases approvals, providing guidance to partners on financial policies, guidelines and Bank practices and identifying and communicating financial-related issues.
- Prepare and present complex financial data and information in a meaningful, concise and user-friendly manner for management.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships and coordinate with key stakeholders including: DPMOs, Project Teams, Audit, and other key partners to ensure strong communication, transparency, and sharing of best practices
- Together with the Director & Senior Manager – Continue the transformation and evolution of the team into a Centre of Excellence, working together and with cross-functional teams within the Enterprise Portfolio Management Group, where new trends and process improvements are evaluated/implemented, for business cases analysis, presentations and trainings that improve oversight of the Bank’s project portfolio, and approval processes become best-in-class.
- Identify and lead process improvement opportunities.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- University degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting. Professional accounting designation (CPA, CFA) or MBA is considered and asset.
- Strong Project Management skills. (PMP designation is preferred)
- Knowledge of financial and management reporting standards applied to banking issues (e.g. Intangibles), and understanding of the business planning process, dealing with accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls.
- 5 years demonstrated work experience in a finance, accounting, project management, or analytics environment, ideally in the financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of Banking Services & Operations within Scotiabank, leveraging broader Bank relationships (preferred)
- Strong conceptual, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Excellent analytical and technical skills. Must be able to manage and interpret large amounts of data, and use sound judgement in analysis, interpretation, and presentation of findings.
- Strong Excel, PowerPoint & Story-Telling skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
