RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).
Position Summary
Under the immediate supervision of the Research Director, we are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic team.
The Chronic Viral Illness Service (CVIS) is part of the McGill University Health Center (MUHC). This multidisciplinary academic clinic cares for patients living with chronic viral diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B and C and human papilloma viruses. Our investigators lead world-class research programs in Epidemiology, Public Health, Clinical Trials and Discovery Science. The CVIS team has an active research program conducting numerous clinical trials each year to provide innovative research to patients.
We are looking for a person that will lead the CVIS core research team in charge of running all industry-sponsored clinical research studies in the fields of HIV, NASH, HepC, HepB and other infectious and liver diseases.
General Duties
In this role, the incumbent will play a leading part in planning, initiating, coordinating, and completing clinical projects by leveraging strategic, tactical, and operational management skills, along with strong analytical abilities. The incumbent will manage budgets and maintain accounts while organizing and motivating team members to achieve project goals. Effective communication will be essential as the incumbent navigates challenges with enthusiasm and innovation, ensuring successful outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: $54,327.00 - $100,882.60Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Work Site: GLEN Site, 1001 boul. Decarie and 5252 Boul. De Maisonneuve West

- Lead Clinical Projects: Play a leading role in planning, initiating, coordinating, and completing clinical projects through strategic, tactical, and operational management.
- Budget Management: Manage budgets and maintain financial accounts, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Team Organization: Organize and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve project objectives.
- Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including sponsors/CROs, team members, and regulatory bodies such as the MUHC REB.
- Challenge Navigation: Face challenges with enthusiasm and innovation, employing problem-solving skills to ensure project success.
- Compliance Oversight: Ensure all clinical trials comply with regulatory requirements and ethical standards, including GCP and RI-SOPs.
- Protocol Development: Assist in the development and review of study protocols and informed consent documents.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor study progress, preparing and presenting reports to Research Director.
- Training and Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior staff and team members on clinical trial processes and compliance.

Education / Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Field of Study: area of biomedical sciences
Work Experience: at least 3 years
- 3 years of experience recruiting and following participants participating in research protocols,
- 3 years of experience in coordinating clinical trials,
- Must have a proven track record of experience in clinical trials, particularly within the industry and Tri-Council funded research studies,
- Proven project management experience in pandemic trials, with a strong understanding of clinical research methodologies and practices, including knowledge of adaptive design and implementation,
- Regulatory Submission Experience with the REBs of the MSSS and Health Canada Clinical Trial Application submissions,
- Experience with infectious diseases would be an asset.
Other Requirements:
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written, with fluency in spoken French,
- High level of initiative and organization,
- Ability to prioritize and to multitask,
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations,
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team,
- Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and confidentiality
- Computing skills including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
