Overview

Vertex is currently accepting applications for a Director, Urban Development and Infrastructure. The Director – Urban Development and Infrastructure (UDI) will be responsible and accountable for the strategic growth within the commercial and Industrial sector capitalizing on the existing business bases and value add opportunities with Vertex’s current business lines and operational teams. In this role you will be providing mentorship and Client Management support to staff under your care and control in accordance with Vertex guidelines and client requirements This role will focus on managing and growing teams and market share for Vertex in Canada. Development of sales strategies in line with the UDI market with emphasis on major retail chains and in areas that align with Vertex’s operational strengths, geographic presence, and target markets. Enhancement of business development process and operational execution will be a focus to maximize exposure and success on bids.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Strong network of contacts within Environmental, Urban Development, and Industrial and/or commercial real estate sector
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and develop rapport with clients and stakeholders, excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract

Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Build relationships with Developers, Municipalities and Construction Companies
  • Focusing on major retail chains, commercial REIT and large-scale developers
  • Working with operational teams to simplify deal slow, improve close rate and price point
  • Working with operational teams on developing market pricing, pricing strategies etc.
  • Develop a sales strategy to maximize exposure to Urban Development and Infrastructure (UDI) sector
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the UDI market as it relates to Vertex’s services.
  • Identify opportunities to expand our service offering based on client and market needs.
  • Expand Vertex exposure to UDI bids and identify relevant bid opportunities.
  • Strategize with Technical team to develop bid responses and quotes.
  • Collaborate with and support Regional Leaders to support UDI sector growth at Vertex locations.
  • Ensure lessons learned from completed projects/proposals are carried forward to new opportunities.
  • Territorial engagement to be determined but expected to be across North America with local representation by state and province, with similar approach

Marketing

  • Development and execution of UDI specific marketing strategy.
  • Working on web-based strategies, approaches and improving exposure lines.
  • Provide presentations to educate potential clients and increase exposure.
  • Identify and attend key networking events to grow Vertex presence.
  • Identification and active participation in relevant industry associations (BILD etc.)

Process & Talent Improvement

  • Work with EVP to expand on available services and opportunities within market
  • Seek out talent to supplement commercial operations throughout Canada.
  • Communicate industry information and trends to technical team in support of continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as directed by your direct supervisor or manager

Client Management, Expectations, And Relationships

  • Maintain and build relationships with existing clients and work towards value added opportunities with existing clients
  • Act as a client accountable for major clients providing management level representation and oversight to ensure program execution is completed to meet client expectations.
  • Responsible to ensure appropriate resources are allocated to address all operational and technical program requirements
  • Act as a management level point of contact to communicate program progress to client management teams as required and directed
  • Accountable for key contract requirements and commitments for major clients in the UDI sector
  • Other duties as directed by your direct supervisor or manager

LOCATION

  • This position will be based out of either Calgary, AB or Toronto, ON
