The Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre is seeking a full time OT to join our specialized multidisciplinary team treating OCD and related disorders. The Thompson Centre is a unique program in Canada, delivering publically funded live-in and outpatient services for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder for residents of Ontario, and across Canada. As a leading centre for OCD care, we are actively engaged in research, education and innovative, evidence informed clinical care.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled occupational therapist with experience and passion in the treatment of OCD to join our intensive residential and outpatient treatment team. The ideal candidate will have an interest in complex mental health populations.
The role offers an opportunity to;
Conduct functional assessments to identify and address clients’ occupational participation issues and develop treatment goals to contribute to clients’ individualized OCD treatment plans
Provide behavioural activation strategies to support functional outcomes
Develop and facilitate group therapies
Provide individual therapy using various psychotherapy modalities including, but not limited to Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI)
Develop and facilitate Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) activities, including community and home-based exposures
Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports
Actively participate in team rounds and collaborate with team members in provision of care
Conduct intake screens for new referrals, as required
Conduct group exposure therapy, at minimum one Saturday every 6 weeks (approximately), as required
Contribute to program development and program evaluation
Qualifications/Skills
Masters level education in Occupational Therapy
Current member in good standing and be registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
Demonstrated knowledge of OCD as well as mood and anxiety disorders more broadly, including training in CBT
Understanding of the principles of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the application of justice principles in the delivery of health care
Experience within residential treatment or team based care setting an asset
Problem Solving Skills Essential
Superior communication, negotiation, mediation and collaborative inter-professional team skills required
Superior time management, organization, and prioritization skills in addressing multiple tasks and timelines in a fast-paced environment required
Proven commitment to person and family-centred care essential
