Who We Are
HOPA is an insurance reciprocal, formed in 1992 to support the insurance and risk management needs of healthcare organizations in Nova Scotia. HOPA lives by its tagline, the reciprocal advantage, by providing an insurance program that goes beyond insurance placement. HOPA provides top quality claims management and risk management services tailored to the individual needs of each of its Subscribers. It currently provides property and a broad range of liability insurance. Its current Subscribers are Nova Scotia Health, Emergency Health Services, Health Association Nova Scotia, and St. Anne Community and Nursing Care Centre.
Position Description
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Administrative Assistant's primary duties include support for board and committee work. The Administrative Assistant is also responsible for providing occasional administrative support for HOPA's team of four, which includes the CEO, two claims professionals and a risk manager.
The successful candidate will enjoy working effectively as a member of a busy team. To be successful in this role you should be proactive, communicate effectively, meet deadlines, function in a well-organized and timely manner, exercise a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy, prioritize work and multi-task, effectively and efficiently support board and committee work including meeting scheduling, minute-taking and distribution, and have an strong understanding and appreciation of the organizational and strategic goals.
Skills and Attributes Required
- Understanding of governance procedures and documents.
- Understanding of minute-taking and drafting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools.
- Self-motivation and initiative.
- Effective organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and listening skills in English.
- Professional demeanor.
Qualifications
- 4 years + experience supporting a professional Board.
- Insurance industry experience an asset.
Compensation
HOPA offers a competitive salary and benefit package, as well as participation in a defined benefit pension plan. HOPA would also consider a contract arrangement with an competitive hourly rate.
Hours
Average of 20-25 hours per week.
Location
HOPA's offices are in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and we are prepared to consider a hybrid or a fully remote work arrangement.
