Position Summary
The Financial Accounting Analyst is responsible for the ongoing operations of accounting functions including general accounting, reporting and analyzing inventory operations and processing payroll while ensuring compliance with GMCC's accounting policies and procedures.

Position Summary
The Financial Accounting Analyst is responsible for the ongoing operations of accounting functions including general accounting, reporting and analyzing inventory operations and processing payroll while ensuring compliance with GMCC's accounting policies and procedures.
Core Responsibilities
General Accounting Functions
- Prepares month end general ledger entries and generation of financial statements.
- Calculate monthly expense accruals
- Review accounts for reasonability, reconciling accounts and adjusting as required
- Preparation of GST and PST returns monthly.
- Prepare daily inventory transactional entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Understanding of payables, vendor management and multiple currencies.
- Responsible for the daily accounting of the warehouse inventories including reviewing and adjusting entries as necessary.
- Reconciles book inventory to physical inventory at month end this includes physical inventory counts.
- Work with off-site warehouses to verify and monitor inventory.
- Ability to understand multiple software systems and link them together
- Process essential payroll functions.
- Perform all regular monthly payroll journal entries
- Understanding of pension and union reporting requirements
- Assist with tracking and maintaining accruals for payroll including vacation, sick and seniority.
- Review and process of final payroll for reasonability before employees are paid.
- Third Party Reporting
- Provides Analytical Support for Managers
- Performs special projects as assigned
- Assist other members of the accounting team.
- A Bachelor degree in Commerce or Business Administration.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an accounting environment.
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Highly proficient with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to accurately and timely meet deadlines.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning.
- Demonstrates the ability to help solve problems and make decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software
- Able to work in a grain processing environment that exposes staff to allergens such as, but not limited to, grain dust
