The Opportunity:

Oversees the overall operations and integration of new business in the Maritimes. Utilizes benchmarks such as employee and customer satisfaction and budget performance. Works with Branch Managers; Fleet Optimization Coordinator; Sales and Parkland support group and maintains a creative approach to the business to enable maximum profitability for the region.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all activities and procedures concerning safety to ensure all branches are working in a safe manner and are adhering to Parklands safety programs and policies.
  • Participates in building the budget for each branch resulting in an overall budget for the Atlantic region; sets and manages objectives to position the branches to meet the budget objectives; monitors and manages monthly branch expenses and revenue results.
  • Manages the Atlantic bulk plants and cardlocks.
  • Monitors and manages customer satisfaction through surveys and attending to escalated calls; leads employees to excel in everyday customer service through superior service, recognition of employee excellence, and establishing initiatives that maximize service and minimize cost.
  • Evaluates employee satisfaction levels on a continuous basis by reviewing the annual employee engagement survey, communicating the results and developing objectives for the field.
  • Manages, directs, and participates in various teams and committees to successfully integrate new businesses with the existing business. Train Branch Managers to communicate organizational changes to employees and helps coordinate this communication.
  • Acts as a liaison between head office and the field to achieve superior results and leads branch personnel in achieving and prioritizing objectives set by head office.
  • Manages the overall fleet efficiency objectives in conjunction with Branch Managers and the Field Optimization Coordinator by reviewing and implementing fleet efficiency projects based on fleet matrix objectives to ensure high levels of efficiency and profitability; provides results to the Executive team.
  • Facilitates margin objectives through margin management, optimizing load preferences, and delivery scheduling in the field.
  • Build & maintain relationships with various internal departments to improve service to the customer that will result in higher performance as a region.
  • Fosters the Parkland culture by leading Branch Managers to continually work with their teams to provide exceptional customer service and a fun workplace, resulting in excellent results for the company.
  • Works in conjunction with the Marketing and Sales departments to build strong offers for various marketplaces, ensuring growth and retention of Parklands customer base.
  • Facilitates relationships with third party service providers throughout Eastern Canada to negotiate yearly contracts, set growth targets, and provide access to company offers to enhance the relationship.
  • Conducts site visits once every three months to keep in contact with branch personnel and educate employees on company objectives and results.
  • Maximizes Eastern Canada’s existing fleet by validating efficiency reports; prioritizing the reasons for the inefficiencies. Recognizes that each branch has a unique situation and must be approached differently; provides the framework for assessing each branch and works with the Branch Manager to set a plan in place to achieve the necessary goals.
  • Develop ongoing team-building initiatives to strengthen inter-employee relationships.
  • Maintains an up-to-date understanding of provincial regulatory boards for pricing (NB, PEI, & NS), the federal Environmental Tank Policy, Department of Transportation guidelines, the Health & Safety Act, the Canada Labour Code, CSA B139 (National Fire Code), budget building parameters, Safe Work Practices, Standard Operating Procedures, and internal policies, procedures, and safety program.
  • Plans objectives by setting primary goals, determining the stakeholders who can best contribute to the desired outcomes, and developing a plan based on input from the team; determines timelines and leads the group towards the end goal, ensuring buy-in from the teams in order to reach the desired target; assesses risks, determines successes, and begins by executing the plan; monitors progress to ensure success.
  • Supervises thirteen Branch Managers; conducts performance appraisals and disciplines employees; establishes work priorities and determines staff requirements and works with the Human Resource department to place top candidates in vacant positions.

Requirements:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • 5+ years leadership experience, industry experience an asset.
  • Undergraduate degree (Business, Finance) or equivalent experience.
  • A motivated self -starter, with good organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Willingness to travel with some overnights will be required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract.
