Reporting directly to Specialist, Donor Relations and supporting Manager, Philanthropy

The Philanthropy team at Jays Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Toronto Blue Jays, is seeking to hire a detail-oriented, persuasive writer for the role of Coordinator, Donor and Government Relations for the period of February to November 2025. The Coordinator will play a key role in supporting Jays Care’s Philanthropy team by researching and prospecting new funding opportunities, writing donor proposals and reports, and assisting with donor stewardship initiatives. This role is ideal for amotivated individual with experience in grant writing, donor relations, and project coordination, eager to contribute to Jays Care Foundation’s mission to contribute to Jays Care Foundation’s vision to level the playing field for all children and youth across Canada.

Compensation $20/hour for 40 hours a week

This is a hybrid role. Jays Care’s Philanthropy team works on location at Rogers Centre at least two days per week, with increased presence during the baseball season. Participation in evening and weekend events is required, especially during the baseball season.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and Prospecting for Grant Opportunities (30%)
  • Conduct research to identify individuals, foundation and government funding opportunities aligned with Jays Care Foundation’s mission and programs, using several tools including Google, LinkedIn and Charity Can.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective funders and grant opportunities.
  • Ensure thorough and up-to-date records of all research, prospecting activities, and prospective funder profiles.
  • Research provincial and federal government ministries’ mandates, identifying opportunities and drafting outreach communications.
  • Grant Writing and Proposal Development and Presentation Preparation (30%)
  • Draft and copy-edit compelling, well-researched grant proposals, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and priorities.
  • Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather data, budgets, and supporting documents for proposals.
  • Track and manage deadlines for grant submissions, reporting, and stewardship in Salesforce for the team with dashboards accurately reflecting team and donor activity.
  • Support the preparation of reporting and dashboards in Salesforce and presentation decks for Board, Management and donor meetings.
  • Prepare presentations for donor and prospect meetings.
  • Donor Relations (20%)
  • Assist in the writing of donor reports, impact stories, and other communications to keep donors informed and engaged.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization to support the development and implementation of donor communications, reporting and campaign appeals.
  • Support donor and foundation recognition and stewardship implementation, including social media, signage, and events.
  • Lead the execution of donor surveys and summary reporting, with all data living in Salesforce.
  • Assist the Coordinator, Philanthropy in fulfilling stewardship and cultivation requirements for the Videoboard Celebration program, community fundraising, and annual giving initiatives as required.
  • Support the creation and implementation of fundraising webpages using donor software (Classy).
  • Other duties as required
  • Campaign Support (20%)
    • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing of several campaigns including the Thankathon and National Philanthropy Day initiatives, engaging Jays Care team members, stakeholders, and board members.
    • Work closely with the philanthropy team to develop personalized messages and acknowledgment materials.
    • Track and report the outcomes of each campaign success, gathering feedback to optimize future engagement efforts.
Qualifications

  • Education Post-secondary degree or diploma in Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Communications, Business, or related fields preferred
  • Experience Demonstrated experience with grant writing, nonprofit fundraising, or donor relations; familiarity with foundation and government grant processes is an asset.

Skills And Characteristics

  • Excellent English written communication and storytelling abilities, with a talent for drafting clear, persuasive grant proposals. French language skills are an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems (experience with Salesforce is an asset), and online research tools.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
