Reporting to the Senior Corporate Accountant, the Corporate Accountant, ECEI is a member of the Capital Finance team and is responsible for the preparation and review of NSPI’s financial results and reporting related to Eastern Clean Energy Initiative capital projects.
Key Elements Of This Role Include
- Supporting the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process to ensure financial results are complete and accurate,
- Completing monthly internal control procedures in a timely manner,
- Collaborating with the ECEI team to prepare budgets and forecasts,
- Reporting on project variance analysis to budget and forecasts,
- Assisting with the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual external Financial Statements; and other quarterly deliverables,
- Performing tasks with excellent overall quality, while being able to prioritize work to meet deadlines and identify, recommend, and implement process improvements.
These Skills Will Make You Successful
- The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or commerce with a minimum of three years of progressive experience with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and reporting.
- You possess or are working towards a professional accounting designation. A related combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Experience with financial reporting systems and Excel, knowledge of Oracle and Powerplan is considered an asset).
- Be highly motivated, adept in technical accounting, detailed oriented and possess strong leadership, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team-focused environment with the ability to handle multiple deliverables and work independently under tight deadlines.
- The successful candidate also possesses solid business acumen with a strong customer focus and is innovative, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
