What would you be doing:
As an Infrastructure Technical Support Practitioner, you will:
Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance of production, development systems, and software products onsite; this includes configured services running on various platforms (within defined operating procedures.
Provide hardware/software support and implement technology at the operating system level across all server and network areas, and for software solutions/vendors/brands.
Be responsible for supporting the entire IT infrastructure, focusing on maintaining and enhancing Windows environments, managing logical and physical networks, and ensuring strong firewall and network security protocols.
Be responsible for handling the day-to-day administration of servers, networks, and firewalls.
Administer and manage Windows (365) Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
Configure, monitor, and maintain firewalls (e.g., Fortinet, Cisco, or similar).
Implement and manage advanced security features such as VPNs, SSL inspection, content filtering, and threat intelligence integration.
Design, implement, and manage both physical network infrastructure (routers, switches, cabling, patch panels, etc.) and logical network architecture (subnets, VLANs, routing, IP addressing schemes, etc.).
Have a clear understanding of the OSI Model and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Manage IT helpdesk services to promptly resolve technical issues and requests and provide L1 and L2 / basic and intermediate level troubleshooting.
We are seeking a person with the following skill set and competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Telecommunication, Networking, or related field
Desired Industry certifications, such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet NSE, or CompTIA Network+ an asset.
Desired Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE) related to Windows environments an asset.
2 plus years’ experience with Network and Linux/Windows administration.
Hands-on experience with network firewalls, including configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and providing day-to-day technical support to employees.
Expertise in networking protocols, such as, but not limited to, VLANs, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
Experience working with OSI model and practical application of networking concepts at each layer.
Experience with network design and physical infrastructure setup.
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, including firewall rules, intrusion detection, VPN setup, and vulnerability assessments.
Experience managing virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud technologies (Azure, Office 365) an asset.
Desired experience with security frameworks like NIST, CMMC, or ISO 27001 an asset.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network and security issues.
On-call availability for critical IT and network issues outside of business hours.
May require lifting and installation of physical IT hardware (servers, switches, cabling).
