Position Summary
The front counter Administrator works in close cooperation with the front office administrative staff and is responsible for providing assistance and excellent customer service to clients and CPS members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle front counter enquiries relating to Traffic Safety Act violations, civilian collision reports and general enquiries
- Complete & process Police Information Checks for members of the public
- Answer telephone enquiries relating to the Traffic Safety Act and general enquiries
- Provide comprehensive administration to the Traffic section
- Process violation ticket cancellations for Calgary Police Service vehicles and police vehicle collision reports; update Fleet and internal databases and distribution to third parties. Liaison with City representatives to ensure accuracy of civilian claims
- Maintain equipment room; ensure correct function of radios, maintain batteries, ensure accurate recording of equipment/vehicle sign out sheets
- Process applications for towing and storage refunds and parking tag reviews; investigation into circumstances, protocol and Officer response. Liaison with members of the public in relation to their claim
- Maintain serious & fatal collision database. Updating as necessary with victim information, results of toxicology reports and charges laid. Processing reports for use by SWORN members and outside parties. Updating of Fatal Collision Boards at executive, district and operational offices
- Processing & distribution of court documents, internal/external mail, and traffic violations
- Maintenance of section equipment; photocopiers, fax, and shredders
- Management of section fuel cards and receipts
- Processing of vehicle equipment compliance reports. Inspection of public vehicles to ensure compliance
- Process requests for Traffic section escorts
- Process civilian vehicle hold applications
- Various ad-hoc duties as requested
Skills, Abilities & Educational Requirements:
- Patrol designated areas to deter criminals’ activities and ensure public safety.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Must be fluent in the English language – written, verbal and reading skills.
- Must possess valid first aid or be willing to obtain it.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Enhanced Clearance as per site requirements. (5 years in Canada)
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated with strong organizational, time management and priority setting skills.
- Strong computer skills ability to learn technology devices (phones, equipment)
- Have a positive attitude with a professional demeanor, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Have excellent problem-solving skills with an ability to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
- Physically fit with ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
- Have exceptional attention to detail to fulfill duties and responsibilities and incident report writing.
- Former RCMP/Military experience and Military family member (Strong Asset)
- Education and/or background in Law Enforcement (Strong Asset)
Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday 07:00 - 15:00.
Working Conditions
- Work 8-hour shifts.
- May be exposed to prolonged periods of walking, sitting, or standing.
- May be employed indoors or outdoors in periods of inclement weather.
- Climbing or descending stairs
