Position Description:
The Integrated Domestic Violence Response Team (IDVRT), Social Worker position at YWCA Edmonton and its inter-agency partner, enCompass Community Safety Agency, plays a critical role in supporting individuals identified as high risk for severe violence or homicide in cases of intimate partner violence. Working closely with Edmonton Police Services, this position provides crisis intervention, risk assessment, and ongoing case management for victims, focusing on safety planning, stabilization, and long-term community support. The IDVRT Social Worker will contribute to bridging service gaps, advocate for victims’ needs, and foster collaboration among community partners to enhance victim safety.
Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis intervention and ongoing case management to high-risk victims of domestic violence, focusing on safety and stabilization.
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning tailored to the victim’s immediate and long-term needs.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, ensuring trust and rapport are quickly built to facilitate engagement.
- Work collaboratively with Edmonton Police Services and other community partners to ensure coordinated support for clients.
- Offer advocacy and warm referrals to community agencies, connecting clients with essential resources.
- Provide culturally sensitive support, considering the diverse backgrounds of clients.
- Deliver domestic violence training on risk assessment, safety planning, and case management practices to enCompass Community Safety Agency and YWCA Edmonton staff and other community partners.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in accordance with organizational policies and standards.

Qualifications / Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Social Work or a related field, MSW degree preferred.
- Active membership with Social Workers Association of Alberta.
- Clear Criminal Record, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Intervention Record Check.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with complex case management.
- Class 5 Drivers License with a 5 Year Drivers Abstract.
- Limited Liability Car Insurance of up to $2,000,000.00.
- Extensive knowledge of domestic violence, victimology, and community resources.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and criminal court processes related to domestic violence cases.
- Proven ability to establish rapport and motivate clients to engage in support services.
- Engaging with diverse populations and ability to create a culturally safe environment.
- Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
- Align with the agency’s strategic direction and values.
- Standard First Aid and CPR certification.
Conditions of Employment:
This position will be hybrid in nature, having a base location at YWCA Edmonton, 10402 124 St NW, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, 4 days per week with some evening and weekend availability to assist with client emergency situations. This position will involve regular travel to meet clients, attend interagency meetings, or be at the Edmonton Police Services locations.
Salary:
The salary for this position is $69,000 annually, working 30 hours per week.
