Some of what you will do:
The Pricing Strategy Analyst will be instrumental in the development of Staples Canada’s pricing strategy and ensuring price competitiveness in the market. This role requires proficiency in managing large volumes of data to identify trends and anomalies, aiding Staples in determining competitive prices to enhance market share and meet revenue goals. A strong analytical and technical background is essential to integrate data from multiple sources and support complex pricing models that deliver business value. The analyst will collaborate closely with vendors, merchandising, as well as data engineering and data science teams to develop strategies and procedures related to pricing.
Specifically, You Will:
- Model and analyze price optimization scenarios in the pricing tool to maximize sales and profitability. Influence category partners to adopt the price optimization tool.
- Maintain and govern the pricing strategy, configurations, and rules in the pricing tool.
- Manage the pricing tool backlog and coordinate with multiple stakeholders to enhance business capabilities.
- Utilize quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze market conditions, price positioning, and promotional trends to provide insights that drive business value.
- Work with data engineering and data science teams to build data pipelines for various pricing projects.
- Develop logic for web scraping processes to collect prices and analyze competitive retail prices for accuracy.
- Create and maintain BI dashboards to adapt to changing market needs and trends.
- Continue to enhance internal processes by streamlining and standardizing them within the pricing tool.
Some of what you need:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or Analytics.
- Knowledge of retail pricing fundamentals.
- Proficiency in SQL, advanced Excel, and Macros.
- Experience in building dashboards with Power BI or Looker.
- Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, GCP, GitHub, BigQuery, and Python for Machine Learning is a plus.
- 3-4 years of experience in merchandising, pricing, or promotional planning in a large retail environment.
