YW is looking for a Parenting Time Facilitator to join our team! As a Parenting Time Facilitator at YW, you will play a pivotal role in supporting families experiencing restructuring, separating or divorce. The Parenting Time Facilitator is responsible for overseeing supervised parenting sessions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for non-residential parents, caregivers and children. Utilizing a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach, your provide coaching, skill-building opportunities, and referrals to enhance healthy relationships, co-parenting, emotional regulation, and child development. Your role is crucial in fostering positive, child-focused interactions while upholding ethical standards and maintaining participant privacy.

This position is a Full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week; Tuesday- Saturday. This role is not eligible for a hybrid work arrangement and is located at our YW hub Location.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct parenting sessions in a safe, neutral and non-judgmental manner
  • Provide collaborative and supportive relationships with participants to meet their needs
  • Ensure the safety of children and other participants during supervised visits
  • Provide a strengths-based and trauma-informed approach to assist parents in setting and achieving parenting goals
  • Coach and provide skill building opportunities in areas of healthy relationships, co-parenting, emotional regulation and child development
  • Assist participants in navigating and linking parents to appropriate community services and supports
  • Assess participant safety to develop safety plans where needed
  • Participate in regular case consultation with the program Supervisor regarding assigned cases
  • Respond to inquiries and requests via phone, email, or in person
  • Complete records management and appropriate documentation on parent observations, interactions and progress
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and integrate principles of diversity, equity and inclusion into everyday responsibilities and interactions
  • Establish strong working relationships with others on the team, other YW employees, volunteers, and students.
  • Seek out and attend professional development activities related to supervised parenting time, domestic violence, parenting, family justice, family law. Child development and other relevant topics.

What You'll Bring

  • A clear police information check including the vulnerable sector is required upon commencement of employment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Services, Social Work, Child Studies, or related field or equivalent in education and experience.
  • Current professional registration as applicable i.e., RSW.
  • Alberta Family Wellness Initiative’s Brain Story certification required or to be completed within 3 months of employment.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required.
  • Certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) required or to be completed within 6 months of employment.
  • Experience in systems navigation is an asset.
  • Experience in facilitation an asset.
  • Experience working with families impacted by separation, divorce, and/or domestic violence is an asset.
