General Summary:
Responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely consolidated financial statements for all business operations. Responsible for developing new processes and systems designed to manage all financial and fiscal aspects of the company. Ability to lead the development and implementation of the Accounting
department’s multi-year plan.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely consolidated financial statements for all business operations. Responsible for developing new processes and systems designed to manage all financial and fiscal aspects of the company. Ability to lead the development and implementation of the Accounting
department’s multi-year plan.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Managing Accounting department operational and strategic planning, including business requirements, project planning,
- Partner with all departments to determine and analyze financial business requirements;
- Prepare/review and analyze monthly statements, including consolidation of results for all business operations;
- Coordinate and prepare annual operating and capital budgets;
- Ability to monitor, manage and control cash requirements of the company on a daily basis.
- Responsible for compliance with government reporting and tax filings (HST, WSIB, Payroll, etc);
- Responsible for year end audit and report preparation and working with external accountants;
- Manage and develop accounting and payroll staff;
- Ensure accuracy of costs and inventory transactions;
- Maintenance of the capital asset system and records;
- Calculation of factory and department overhead rates;
- Work closely with Sales and Operations to complete the monthly financial closing process;
- Manage finance department (A/P & A/R) and ensure work assigned is completed on time with accuracy
- Offer financial expertise and advise to other department managers to recommend strategies to continually improve company performance;
- Professional Accounting Designation Preferred but not required (CPA – CA, CMA, CGA);
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field
- Proficient in MS Office, with high level of proficiency in Excel
- Financial user of ERP systems (Epicor)
- 5+ years of experience managing an accounting department preferably in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment;
- High level of organizational and analytical skills;
- A curious leader who pays attention to detail and is dedicated to continuous improvement;
- Team player with a hands-on approach and leads by example;
- Superior troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentations to management and external contacts;
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary service;
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
